Happy Birthday Helen Keller born today in 1880. ⠀
“Life is a Daring Adventure or Nothing” ⠀
She was the first deaf-blind person to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree. Keller was well-traveled, wrote books and was outspoken in her convictions. She was an advocate for people with disabilities. She traveled to twenty-five different countries giving motivational speeches about Deaf people’s conditions. She was a suffragette, pacifist, radical socialist and birth control supporter. In 1916 she sent money to the NAACP ashamed of the Southern un-Christian treatment of “colored people”. In 1920, she helped to found the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).⠀
A daring adventurer indeed. Thank you Helen Keller. ⠀
